Default focus rs mk1 diff into st170

Hi, building an st170 to hill climb regs and wondered whether a mk1 rs quaife diff will fit in an st170. The rules state that all casings and the position must remain as standard but internals are free. Any info much appreciated.

Won't fit.

Focus RS is an MTX75 based box, the ST170 uses a Getrag MT285.

You can buy Quaife ATBs to go into the ST170 box though.

Cheers. Better work out if the 700 quid is worth it or not !!!! It buys a lot of tyres and entry fees.

Hi again,
Just at the point of buying a quaife atb for the 170. How big/small a job is it for the fitting? Anyone have experience of the job?

Also, just bought seats and harnesses. The recommendation is that the shoulder straps should be fixed as close as poss to horizontal behind the seat. There's no cage fitted as yet, so is it possible to get a decent mount for the straps without the cage bar ?

Thanks

Simon

Quaife atb fitted and gave it some abuse at Harewood last weekend (eventually).

Completely different technique required - Turn in at usual speed, then floor it and hang on, oh and don't lift or you'll get shitloads of understeer.

More understeer in the wet/damp than an open diff as well.

Zero understeer mid corner to exit on full throttle.

Bought from QK performance for £622 delivered.
Quaife quoting around £650

Can't recommend a diff enough. The st170 was spinning the inside wheel on the exit of every corner, wasting what power there is and chewing the tyres up.

Useful on the road, but you have to commit to the throttle early in the corner to get the best out of it.
