Smile compression readings ?

hi what sort of compression figure should i have from my 89 erst 1600cvh ? a figure for a bad engine compared to say a good rebuilt one thanks.

Equal! That is of primary importance. The value is secondary and can easily be affected by settings, such as cam timing.
On a standard engine, I'd say that the compression reading in bars should be higher than the compression ratio. On wild cams these tend to be on the same level.

i good one should be 150 psi in each cylinder

the reason i ask is just done a egine rebuild on my rs. new rings, re seat valves and head skim, big and main bearings full gasket set ect.. it also has got a kent cam cvh 35 and all running great and checked the compression and i have 8.5 bar (125psi) on all clinders does this sound a little low ?? .................... regards ryan

You will not get much higher on a CVH35. All is ok.

If it's a very new engine give it some time to bed the rings in properly, don't worry about the comp, just as said so long as nice and even.
