Post Power Loss Ford Fusion TDCI 1399

Hi, I am having a power loss problem with my Fusion. Idles and runs fine. Definite lack of power. Especially noticeable when trying to go up hills. have to change down to gain acceleration. Engine management light not on. Mass Air flow sensor changed recently and some improvement but still sluggish. Fuel consumption also down. Any ideas?

Possibly a blocking cat, may be disintergrating inside.

No smell of fuel. Recently had injector seals done. Would this disturb injector return pipes? Sorry to be a bit thick. It was actually okay before this was done. Had it back into garage and checked but all apparantely ok. Not a Ford dealer so he did not know much about them. he took it to a ford dealer and put on computer but it came up with nothing.

Possibly 1 or more of the injector spill off pipes have not been refitted correctly, alot of people (especially non-ford dealers) push them in and think thats them as the clip will still go on but they need to be pushed fully home!

Or sometimes the little o-ring seals snap when the spill off pipes are removed, possibly been refitted without noticing!

this is just 1 of a number of possible problems..
might require a PCM update, air filter blocked, possibly an EGR issue, etc etc..

might sound daft but none of your brakes are binding on?

first thing i would do would be to give it a good old fashiond rag haha!

then if nothing changes i would take it back to where u got it repaired or to a ford dealer as they will probobly find the fault much quicker then if something flags up that relates to the repair that place carried out take it back and demand it is fixed!

hope this helps u a bit m8!

Hi,
I also have a ford fusion which has just had its injector seals replaced, this time at a ford dealer, Guess what? my fusion is now lacking any power , also it seems to be putting out a bit more smoke than usual.

The ford dealer has now had my car back every other day for just over a week now , they just havn't got a clue whats wrong.
The latest from them , is that its my glow plugs that want replacing?
I don't understand why , because the glow plugs only activate when its cold.
Like I say the ford dealer just hasn't got a clue.

No its not boosting, flat as a fart.
been down to the dealers today, they showed me and explained to me the diagnostics print out. It did appear that 1 glow plug was not functioning correctly , and as such the engine management was limiting the engine form working correctly.
any way they wanted to change the glowplugs , at my expence and they would fit for free, I agreed on a payment by results basis, to which they agreed, picking the car up tomorrow.
will keep you posted on the result.
