i recently brought a mk3 fiesta 1.1 as my first car. it was stood around for 3 years rotting away before i brought in but iv got it now and fixed it up its just this minor problem i cant fix.
when i accelarate the revs die down and then shoot up again and loads of white smoke comes out the exhaust any solutions?
i mixed some redx engine cleaner how long does this take to do its job?

 

Can't even remember are these carb or efi ?

Pretty sure it would be carb, if not CFI, if carb you could try spraying some easy start or a substitute into the venturi the white "Smoke" is probably just condensation. Have you checked the ignition system is good I.E replaced plugs, leads, rotor arm.

Ye they are carbs. iv changed the plugs and the leads look fine like new still and i also applied some redx engine cleaner it seemed to have made it a little better. it seems to only do it when its cold its got an automatic choke so im guessing the choke is sticking or broke, how can i tell?

 

Carbs mate i think the rs turbo is efi.

 

What year is this? Mk 3 Fiesta went to CFi in 1994. If it's still got 3-year old petrol in I'd bin it and try some fresh.

ye i thought that but i cant cifien it out so i just thought run it till the tank is empty, just another quarter of a tank to go lol.
