Default Help!!

In need of some help here as been flashed a few times from other drivers!

I bought a 306 Diesel for work. The nearside brake light does not work, but when I put the lights on the nearside brake light stays on aswell as normal back light.

Any ideas what could be wrong or any tests I can do to find out whats going on?

Big thanks for any help!!

sounds like a dodgy earth or connection check the rear lights for corision as the 306s suffer from water building up in the lights if you carnt chean it up buy a new cluster and bord from the scrappy

My knowledge on cars is not the best!!

Just taken both bulbs out, the rear light bulb and brake light bulb........both have 2 little connecters on the end of the bulbs and both have 2 wires inside the bulbs..........should it just be 1 connector on the end of the bulbs??

Have a go at cleaning the contacts up where the bulb sits in the light board mate and also clean the contacts where the wiring plugs to the board.

Hope all is well fella

Just look into the hole the bulb goes into, will soon see whether it should be 1 or 2 contact bulb.

If you identify the earth track, I would just drill a small hole about 3mm in it, then solder a wire to it then bolt down to a good earth with a ring terminal on other end of wire.
The earth track will be the only one that is common to all the bulb holders, they are a problem on many cars, as with brakes lights tail lights indicators fog etc there is quite a load.
The above is what I have always done when needed, assuming the original metal of the tracks is galvanised like the fords, it's fine till a few years then micro arcing occurs burns off the galvanising on the conenntion pins leading to these problems.
I would suggest 14/030 wire would be fine.

There should be a wire coming from the direction of the clusters and brake light (if you have a centre one). This will be bolted to the chassis of the car, normally in the boot at the back. Try cleaning the contact here

On my focus i used that point to ground my 0 awg for my amps and i had to give it a wire brushing because it was so corroded.

Thanks guys

I will get a pic up a bit later of the rear light cluster..........Need some help on identifing the earth as dont want to be earthing some live wire!!

I went to the scrappy a few weeks ago and bought another rear cluster for it..........all kinds of fun things happened with this one like the indicator came on when brake light was pressed. The bloke in the French car scrappy said he gets people in all the time with 306's with this problem Indicator, reversing light etc when brake light is pressed or when lights are turned on..... I asked why, he came back with a fantastic helpful answer of 'don' know mate'

I dont have a centre light, mine is one of the first 306's. A proper workhorse.........If ever it comes up for sale on here please dont buy it as its thrashed from cold, driven at silly speeds through muddy building sites, loaded with tools, bricks, slabs, bags of cement etc daily!! Will say one thing for it.......It does not die!! Was told after buying it that these Peugeot Diesel engines are soooo tough and that is true for sure
