hi new to this forum, i've got an escort mk 6 1.4 it cut out the other day whilst driving along and it won't restart. there's nothing wrong with the battery but it just won't turn over. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does it bump start ok ?, if it does then most likely a dud starter or connection to it.
Give the starter a big whack, as they can jam sometimes, especially with bosch ones, the solenoids jam, more than the starter itself.
If it doesn't start with bump start, then check for a spark, if spark ok, check the fuel cut off has not activated, if so just depress the button to reset, will be in one of the footwell kick panels.

no it wont bump start but theres plenty of life in the battery because central locking/ ingnition lights etc all work fine the problemm is when i try to start it its almost like someone has cut power to th starter motor because it just refuses to do anything. i'll try what you suggest and see how i get on. Thanks

 

Do you not even hear a click of the solenoid? If not you almost definitely have a connection problem.
