Default battery

afternoon chaps, another problem i think its the battery but need your input first. right, as some of you know i had a problem with the blue wire on the starter which i crimped together. the last few weeks whenever i go to start the car it just clicks i take the battery off charge it put it back on and the car starts. it could be 5 mins or 30 mins the car will run and idle fine then for no reason the revs start to drop then it will cut out, if i go to restart it sometimes it clicks and sometimes it will fire. the battery light is on but faint. if i put the lights on the battery light flickers slightly. is the battery knackered or have i got a power drain somewhere

any help appreciated (spelling)

cheers

the blue wire should be conneted to the back of alternator which inturn is connected to the ignition light on the dash(if not connected battery will NOT charge)! clicking starter could be it's got a knackered solenoid.

regarding the door lock unlocking it's the c/locking motor's knackered

The solenoid cannot cause power drain, unless the igntion switch is held in the start position, as this is the only time it uses power.
A duff alternator can flatten the battery, if the diode pack(regulator rectifier) is iffy, it will alow current flow from the battery to the alternator.
Charge the battery, disconnect the main charge wire output connection from the alternator, normally held down with 13mm nut etc, and see what it is like then.
Even if the charge warning light is not connected it will still start to charge when revved enough, as there will be enough residual current produced to start the charge process.
If the battery was discharging that quick the leads would be getting very hot, are they ?
