Default cossie steering

hi finally got the car legal passed the MOT yesterday, verdict A1,taxed today, but when driving abs pump is coming in on a regular basis, even idling it will run for about a minute then off for about 20 secs then run again, brake pedal has always been very hard, do i have abs probs??where do i start to check?
also steering is as though no power steering at all, fluid is coming back to reservoir ok, but at low speeds its a joke, are they always solid like that or is there something I can check?
car is sapphire 2wd been stored for 3 years in my mates heated garage, dried out the acid in the battery, so it must have been pretty warm,
just getting the chance to look at everything now as its been stuck in my garage waiting on cash for mot/tax/oil/coolant etc
thanks
john

The abs sound like you have a dicky pressure switch.
I don't know why but I find exercising the pump often works, turn off the ignition and fully deplete the pressure, by pumping pedal, leave a minute(let it pressurise again) do this 2 or 3 times, usually sorts it.
The steering should be a bit heavier than most cars(with power steering), it sounds as though the pump is sticky, it has rollers that should give more pressure the lower they spin, maybe just use for a bit, and put in some wynns steering system lube.
