Wonder if any of you guys could pinpoint my problem.Gotta series 2 rst and dropped a spare engine in it just 6 weeks ago.The engine seems fine with 70 psi of oil pressure cold and just under 20 psi hot at idle.Had no problems with it until I lost my rag with a to**er in a cavalier who overtook me on double white lines so I nailed him but in doing so I now have a problem with the car kicking out smoke. It happens only occasionally when you decelarate slightly and let the engine slow you down.when you re-apply the throttle it smokes briefly and then clears.Doesnt do it all the time though. If I stick to 60mph/3000rpm max it doesnt burn oil but anything over that it does.Ive had the engine compression checked and the guy says its the best he has seen with 170 psi in all 4 cylinders. The valve stem seals were replaced when I dropped the engine into the car but they were the old type without the metal washers on.Has anyone got a clue coz ive run out of ideas?cheers everyone. p.s I have noticed that the oil in the filler cap turns creamy as well and the cars idle has gone up to 1100 rpm and wont come down.

Nope PJay,the turbo was reconned only 6 months/5000 miles ago mate.Ive been told that when a turbo goes you know about it.As in it will cause a smoke screen behind you?
HI,
compression test good and you say valve seals were changed recently but not the ones with the metal seats at the base, check they are through the valve springs are still in place as it could be seals, on the overun vacuum, is it definitely oil smoke as the creamy oil in oil cap could be headgasket weeping although comp test pretty
good, it could be creamy also if a lot of start and stops short trips (condensation)
also if running too rich co% on start up first thing, the turbo could be faulty seals weeping slightly,u said s2, the hose from the fuel metering unit to the turbo is this std, or samco, as if std squeeze the hose by hand and see if it is soft, also check your air filter is not dirty as if restricted can cause a vacuum and cause the seals to start to, or fail, also check the turbo oil return to the sump is clear. and with the car hot let it idle for around 5 minutes and give it a good 4000,rpm approx rev with someone watching the exhaust if it smokes probably turbo seals, the idle speed have u tried adjusting the speed,
