hi,i know you have to remove the headlamp unit on a mk2 mondeo to change a bulb,but after removal/refit do you have to have the h/lamp set up at a garage on a machine for correct height!!!.

No, in theory at least, just buy quality bulbs, and the alignment should still be there ok, but worth checking, most mot places will adjust for a few quid if needed.
I can thoroughly recommend Philips Extreme bulbs in H4 fitment, use these myself, and they have just come out top in the latest Auto Express bulb shootout for the 4th year running.
