RS1800i ABS - How to disable
Guys
Anyone know how to disable the ABS on an M Reg RS1800i Fiesta ?
Some dickweed Courier crashed into the missus's Fez a couple of weeks ago, it was a wierd one as it was wheel to wheel contact, his rear wheel hit her drivers side front wheel.
Since then the minute you touch the brakes the ABS comes in on the drivers side.
The dunderheads at the Ford dealer who did the repair 'assumed' this was being caused by a sticking caliper on the passenger side and that we would have to replace them at our cost.
So I did this yesterday, its still the same.
I suspect the problem is with the ABS sensor on the drivers side so would like to disable the ABS to prove the theory, but I dont know the easiest way to go about it.
Any advice gratefully received as I'd like to return to the Ford dealer fully armed with a barrell load of fucks to throw into them, letting a woman with kids take a car thats unsafe, because they cant diagnose a problem correctly...... and people wonder why the motor trade has such a bad name

20K+ Super Poster.
Unplugging will not disable all of it.
Just pull the fuse for the abs, this just cuts out the electronics, so you still have normal brakes.
The trouble with dealers these days is they have "fitters" not mechanics, if they can't get the answer by plugging in a computer they are often stuck.

Cheers Tabetha, I tried what I thought was the fuse, not clearly labelled on the underside of the fuse box cover and it made no difference.
Unplugged what I thought was the feed to the ABS pump but it was just for the warning light, got the arse and gave up.
Would have liked to have been able to prove what the problem was before I threw it back at the dealer.
Dont know why they thought a car that was driven at least twice a day, sometimes 3 times a day would have a siezed caliper and how everything was working fine before the accident.
Arse biscuits !
