oil getting into the water ?
i have just recently done a rs turbo rebuild ,i put on a genuine rs turbo head gasket from ford as i heard they was good,i also took of the oil cooler housing to paint the block,when started i have oil goin straight into the water ,thought was head gasket so removed the head to find no problems, cud it be posinle that a seal sitting on wrong on the oil cooler on these cud lead to this problem ? also any way these oil coolers can pack up ? cheers guys

NO defo not, the actual insides of the cooler are seperate, well they should be anyway.
By normal you mean the one that goes between the block and the oil filter, with two 1/2" diameter hoses going to and from it ?

is your turbocharger watercooled??????????
i assume it will be if its a s2 escort
have seen a few turbo cores cracked before today ,giving the symptoms you describe
worth checking before ripping motor down to bits
