Default ZVH Problem!!

Hi Guys,

I'm hoping the technical geniuses here may be able to help! I have a 1.8 ZVH EFi in my Fiesta RS Turbo, it runs and Idles right, but is running really rich, about 8-10% CO! it was on beige injectors and an MSD Chip, but we removed the chip and replaced the Blue injectors, I have checked all the sensors and they seem to be OK, I have replaced the CO pot as it wasn't making a blind bit off diference, it help a little! I have taken the head of as i wanted to lap the valves in, as we forgot when we built it, and also I'm replacing the cam and followers as they are worn, I dont think that this will cause the issue, but maybe contribute!?

I'm considering getting the car up and running again, and running it for a week or so, see if it clears up and settles down, as the engine was a fully rebuilt block, but then I dont want to run the risk of bore wash!

I would love to run custom mangement but I cant really afford that right now!

Any advice or pointers would be a great help and really appreciated!

anyone interested in seeing the car..

in all honesty the management is the problem, the 1.8 has a longer stoke than a 1600 and consequently the map will be quite different.
you need to get it on rollers and the ecu chipped to suit.
i'm using megasquirt on a zvh and i tried an rst map and had the same problems.

Motorsport Developments custom mapped the car, although I was unable to get it suet up on the rollers to the map, as I am in Cornwall.

What version of megasquirt are you running?

ahh, maybe something is slightly out on your setup.
i'm using MSII v3.0 with extra code, it's as good as it gets with MS for the moment, till MSIII comes out sometime in the next couple of years

that's right, the chip would probably only aid fuelling over the standard boost rating on ecu.
you must remember that a bigger displacement engine won't necessarily require more fuel low down nor will it give the same MAP readings as a smaller engine.
check fuel pressure isn't too high, check the injectors are clean and got a good squirt pattern.
check all sensors are working by unplugging them to check, if the CTS one isn't reading then it'll overfuel as if it's cold starting.
