Default Power steering rack?

Hi all

Ive got an xr4i which has power steering, ive done a turbo conversion on the car & dont have room for the power steering pump anymore.

Can any one tell me if i can use my rack as a normal manual rack without the pump without problems?

cheers leon

Yes you can, but you may find it has play, some racks have play until pressurised, a std sierra 2wd rack fits straight on though, if you wanted a quicker rack, could get a quick rack, as 4i one not that quick.

Install an electric power steering pump as in modern cars.

i will try it without the pump connected up & see how the play is, its only a trackday car so dont really need the powering steering & if i can save time by not fitting a new rack then im happy!
