rst jumping out of reverse
Hello all
i know its a bad oman to make a first post for help, but i`ve been out the game some time.
about 12 years ago i put an erst engine in my mk2 fista xr2 i did it all from scratch wiring loom ect then in 2004 the wife fell pregnant and she had to be put away for a while with the kids starting school this year it is time to get the old girl out again been working away with head scratching due to memory loss over the last few days and with the addition of a new battery shes running like a dream however she`s jumping out of reverse quite badley. now i`ve been limited to time at the car is`nt kept at home so it`s quite difficult to put the hours in i seem to remember this starting on the way back from national day 04 im sure i looked at the linkage when i got back but sadley it was on the way to storage, im sure it was a recon box in there too as it likes to eat a gear box.
now can i pick your brains for a bit of a head start in the morning i seem to remember that worn engine/gear box mounts used to be the bug with this causing the twist to pull the linkage out of gear i will have a gander in the morning and check the linkage again just woundered in my years of if its been a reocourer and well know fix. i intend to strip her next week anyway after tomorrows mot list of things to do, and with anyluck ill be at silverstone on the 2nd.
any thoughts would be much appreciated
ill bung a thread up of the car tonight and give a little info with some limited piccies a s i never owned a camera when i built her they were twist and click at the time lol

well ive always wondered why it does. I heard something once about ford not using synchromesh in their reverse gears, thats why my mate sbrand new fiesta st still crunches into reverse. I dont know if this would have naything to do with it? im not to hot on my gearbox workings.

fixed it!
as i stated before remover the end plate to reveal 5th
undo the torx 40 on the bracket on the end of the shaft next to 5th
turn clock wise till it stops only turn a wee bit.
tighten up and try the gears not running as you wont have any oil in there
if its hard to get in turn it back 100 thou litrualy and it should be fine
works like a dream
