Hi all,is it possible to replace the piston rings on a cvh without removing the head,ie can i get the pistons out from the bottom with the crank still fitted.the rs is smoking quite badly and using a fair bit of oil,i've changed the stem seals but it made no difference so now im thinking rings.cheers matt.

 

Head will need to come off to remove the pistons from the top unless you take the crank out. Also the bores will require honing so the new rings will bed in otherwise its not worth changing them.

thanks for the answers,if the head has to come of then i might as well drop my spare engine in and sort the original one out later ,quicker and easier,cheers matt.
