Vehicle to UK
it's very easy mate.
http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/exptimpt.htm
that is the official government site on how to do it. there's a lot of extra information in there, and it's hard work to read for a native, nevermind a foreigner.
basically, with an old car from europe, it is very easy.
you need the official italian paper for the car, and a receipt of sale.
bring the car into england, prefferably on the italian license plates. take it to an MOT station and get an MOT test done on it, with the chassis number written on the certificate, not the italian registration number. take all the papers (including an english insurance certificate , again based on the chassis number) to the local vehicle licensing office and fill out a form and pay a load of money. after a few days, you'll get the papers back, and a tax disc for the car. take these to a shop to get license plates made up and you're away. the official registration paper for the car (the V5) takes longer by post. you obviously need a uk address to do all this.
what do you want to do? import a car from italy to uk, then out to sweden? good luck.

My problem is that the original documents are lost for my cars. I have verified replacement documents, but the Swedish authorities do not accept the documents I have, and the Italian authorities do not issue new documents since the car is exported. I have two cars, one Sierra and one Escort, both Cosworths, that I have no use for. Both cars was bought thru a dealer that crashed and got killed in a motorcycle accident. I have tried to get his familly to sort the documents, but nothing have happend in a year. I know the laws of the UK is a bit more liberal than ours here in Sweden, that´s why I want to try to get the cars registered in the UK and then take them to Sweden on UK papers. The reason for me asking for someone near or around Newcastle is that the ferry from Sweden go to Newcastle. I have bill of sale, and both cars are in Sweden. The problem of Italy is that you have to wait for 2 weeks to get the export documents after you have bought the car. That is why I did not get the documents the same day I bought the cars. The one that got killed should sort the documents and send them to me. I have no reason to doubt upon him, I had bought cars from him earlier and never got dissapointed.
i understand your problem, but i don't think that you'll get english papers without the original italian papers either.
you believe, and i believe you, that the cars are not stolen or anything, but the english authorities will not accept that, even though they are more 'liberal'.
one way around it would be to buy a shell with identity, and cut out the floor section of both cars with the ID number on and weld it in to your car and swap over the plates under the bonnet. that has been known to work.
if you can find a shell for sale (for example on ebay), ask the seller to cut out the floor section (by the right hand front door) and take off the plates from under the bonnet and send you these together with the V5 (the british registration document), then you can transfer that ID to your car and register it in Sweden without even travelling to england. the seller can then say that they have exported the vehicle, and they can scrap their shell without ID.
all of this is not really within the law though, so you really need a good friend to do it. to ask a stranger to do it is a little unlikely.
hope it works out for you.

Thanks for your answer. I have certicficate from the police that the cars are green ok in all registers within europe. I have an original document from the Italian authorities that contains technical data and owner history of the car, stamped and verified by the Italians, I have a certificate from the Italian embassy of Sweden saying the documents I have are issued as a replacement for the lost documents. This is not enough to get plates in Sweden, it is simply not the CORRECT papers, and then they have to think and that is VERY much hard work for the poor things.
If I change the number in the floor, and it eventually will be discovered, I will go to jail. Very serious crime in Sweden. And if I do, I can not sell the car without a very bad consience.

if you have all of those papers, then it may be possible to register it in england. you would have to try by having a uk resident go to there local vehicle licensing office and ask. it may be possible just based on the chassis number.
as i'm not a uk resident at the moment, i cannot help you.
