gotta change the sump gasket on my old dears R reg fez, i took all the bolts out of the sump, but it wont come off!!!im guessing its bolted inside the Gbox to, if i take all the bolts out of the box, can i get enough space to undo the bolts????I really cant be arsed to take the box out again

 

box out and flywheel off iirc mate

I thought if you took the shield off betwwn engine and box you could get at the 2 bolts at the end of the sump , sure I did it that way inthe past , but you never know I have been wrong before

 

On a 1.8 d there is a housing round the rear main oil seal, this is bolted to the end of the block and end of the sump so not allowing the sump to come down. iirc.

 

just to update,wht a fooking shit wank idea
4 bolts under the flywheel, pain in arse, dont advise neone doing it
