can someone tell me if there is a bleed screw on the fuel pump? if so which one is it?
there is on the side of the pump facing the radiator (8mm spanner) and one on the back below the injector pipes (about 10 or 11mm spanner). thinking it will be one of these two but dont wanna go undoing random bolts on the fuel pump!!
its an r reg van non turbo if that helps
cheers

done that all bleed & its working, i understand the primers can be a problem but the primer is getting hard after a few pumps and i pulled the supply pipe of the back of the pump and there was loads of pressure, cracked the injectors off but there doesn't seem to be any fuel coming up. dont want to crank it over too much if the pump is dry.

can get it to run for about 5 seconds if i build the pressure right up in the line between the primer and fuel pump, soon as the pressure is gone it cuts out. any ideas?
where is the stop solenoid mounted?
have looked on the pump and cannot see it, there are some wires going behind the cover on the back of the pump but think they may be for the immobiliser.
also, how much fuel is meant to come from the hand primer on each pump? im getting about a teaspoon full which is coming through quite frothy, this leads me to think this is knackered.
just been to halfords to see if they keep them in their imense parts stock, after clarifying that i didn't want a 'ham primer','grey primer' or a syphon pump, being told that they didn't exist and giving 3 of there well trained staff a lesson on how a diesel engine works i gave up.
gonna get a new hand primer on monday and have another go. fingers crossed

fixed it.
if anyones interested, it was the hand primer. the old one was pumping fuel but only about a quarter of what the new one does, and it looked like it was drawing in air. still took 4 or 5 attempts but a few squirts of brake cleaner down the inlet helped her cough back into life.
