any ideas to what could be causing it?! its a mk4 efi escort, basically when driving along and u put ur foot down more often than not now it'll jolt the car really hard almost like hitting a wall, i remember from a few years back when my old cossie inlet plenum gasket went it did a similar thing so is it likely to be the inlet manifold gasket gone or somethng else?!

It had been replaced a few years back but then engine had stood for about a year so.

Right ive now changed all the inlet gaskets and its still doing it!! starts and idles fine etc then after about 5mins starts doing it again, go to accelerate and the car jolts etc and backfires almost like hitting a brick wall!!!

Any ideas?! Only other thing i can think is if its not getting enough fuel could that cause that to happen?!
