Default How to remove snapped wheel studs from the wheel hub

Guys,

How the hell do you remove the old wheel studs from the wheel hubs?

Do you drill them out?

Heat them up and whack em?

Or dont you?

And if you have to remove the hub to do it, do you just undo the BIG nut on the front of the hub (with a really long bar) and the 4 bolts behind the hub itself?

Ive got all 16 studs to replace.

Cheers guys

I did a yanks honda recently that had been running around on three studs on one front wheel for years, as the yank honda dealer told him it was a technical job that required complete wheel hub dissasembly, took wheel off and it took all of two minutes plenty of room, with hub rotated slightly!!

get a big hammer (because a smaller one will take much longer ) and give them a decent twating

the front ones will pop out with not a lot of hassle, but the rear ones might need a bit of twidling to get out due to the design of the rear of the hub carrier

assuming you are talking about a sierra yes?

also, when you put them back in again, use a spare set of wheel nuts and just tighten them up until the studs are pulled tight
