Hi folks Ive nearly completed building my mk2 escort and fired the car up yesterday after fitting the new engine, everything is fine with the engine but Im having alot of bother with the wiring.
If I turn on the sidelights ( ignition of ) everything is fine soon as I turn the ignition on I have the two reversing lights on as well and very bright, though Ive the reverse switch disconnected at the box
If I try the indicators the right one works but blinks fast if I try the left nothing until I hold in the brake light swith then the left indicator blinks but fast.
The hazzard warning lights are fine and blink at normal speed
Horn is fine
wipers fine
windscreen waashers fine
dipped lights fine / full beam fine

Anybody any ideas?

 

Major mis connected right problem there.

Check the earths at both rear lights, you might have to scrape off some of your lovely new paint, cover all bare metal connections with vaseline. If the problem persists next is too connect everything else, as you may have parallel paths to earth, basically the lights are earthing through other components, for some reason. If it still does not worth brake out the stella.
