focus rear brake calipers

Angry focus rear brake calipers

tomorrow i am hopefully going to replace rear brake pads on my 03 focus tdci i have a wind back tool to do it with buy someone has just told me the drivers side piston is a left hand thread this being the case my wind back tool will only be good for one side can any one advise please, and by the wat i am new here so of its been covered in another thread i do apologise

You were told wrong, did my dad's neighbours a year or so back std right hand thread, sure it was 02.

Thats correct in the way that one side winds in the opposite way to the other, you can use a pair of grips to twist it in, it just takes a bit longer and is slightly awkward but ive done it before.

Your windback tool can be used on both sides, just the nut that locks it against the back of the calliper will keep coming loose.

Haha nothing like contradicting info, ive done mondeos, focus, c-max and galaxy rears and theyve always had opposite threads.

Although im willing to stand corrected.

It was a year ago but certainly don't remember that, but as you say can be done carefully without anyway.

99% of wind back calipers are right hand thread. but there a few newer cars now coming with left hand thread calipers (mondeos and citroens from memory)

and some new audis and mercs need plugging into a dianostic computer to tell the car that its brake pads are being replaced and the piston winds in and out on its own
