Easy all, i've got a new noise coming from my engine...

It sounds like some one knockin on the front door lol, but constantly!

Gets louder and more frequent with revs, mostly in neutral, 1st & 2nd, but not in 4th?

Im chargin my fone up now so i can get a video of the noise, but thought someone might have an idea without a vid.

Incidently, i have filled it with 99 octane fuel since i got it, but i filled it with 95 the other day now it does this - Coincidence?

 

Sounds like you bottom end has gone.

i agree sounds like bottom end to me .

 

With out hearing it its hard to be 100% but i would say the shells have gone, Take off your sump and see if there is any play in the conrods.

I just booked it into a garage to be looked at, sounds like im gonna be getting my wallet out then.

I've only had the car two weeks, what a nightmare! Only just run it in on 6 psi after being rebuilt

Any ideas on what it would cost me for a bottom end rebuild with forged pistons etc?

Sounds like the bottom end wasnt cleaned thoroughly before reassembly, and some dirt started the old ripping your shells apart snowball!

If it is what you think, is it an easy/cheap (ish) job to do?

Im a spanner-spastic so i will be taking it somewhere to have it done.

Oviously not a good idea to be driving it any where then either?

Funny read but its not funny in reality...just spent Ł400 on a box for fine....fuckin money pits but.....Thats why we love them

 

I definately love the car, was gonna use it as a daily drive, but the way things are goin im gonna have to get another car aswell! Oh well!

Its definately handy havin you lot here, i prob would have sold it otherwise lol! Im gonna have to start gettin my hands dirty to keep costs down now... im off to ebay to get a haynes manual

As soon a i got my S2 i got another car, There is NO WAY i would use my rs as a daily driver.
