Hi people, could someone tell me what labled 1 and 2 do on my Lucas CAV pump off my 1.8 diesel van

1 cold start lever,cable attatched from thermostst housing,bimettalic spring inside housing heats up therefore slackening cable and lowerind idle once warm.
2,idle speed for cold start when idling cold.

ok, thankyou thats great, should the revs settle after a min or so? almost as tho its not shutting off, where would i make the adjustment to close it off abit? at no 1 or no 2?
