focus zetec 1.8 revs sticking,help
This is my first thread so first i want to say hello to everyone on passion ford!
Ive got a focus zetec as a daily driver that eventually a want to make a focos project out of it in the future but just aint got the funds at the mo.
Anyways ive got a problem with the revs sticking on it and its doing my fookin head in. awhen a first start it, its ok then after first mile it sticks at a round 3 thousand revs and stays like it for ages and then just stops. Doesnt do it all the time a did a trip on the motorway the other day and it started doin it when i come off so a dont think its anythin to do with it bein cold . Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance
Cheers,Rick

The likely culprit is the iscv, or idle speed control valve, located somewhere on the inlet/manifold piping.
Take off and give a bloody good clean with carb cleaner, this normally works, but if well and truly dead a new pattern iscv is not expensive, around £20-£25.

had this with mine was the throttle position sensor, have you had it code read?
cleaning the iscv on mine didn't help, plus u need super long arms to reach it.
My dads 1.6 did it, cleaning the iscv sorted that
