Default mk3 16i TD conversion

Hi can any one help me i have a 1.6i cab it has got a 1.3 engine at the moment because the 1600 lump was was knackerd but i want to put a TD engine in from a mk6 escort. I just wanted to know if any one had done this before and what is involved and would i need to buy anything els to convert.

tbh mate i cant think of many people converting to diesel, i think if i recall rightly the fuel lines are different (need changing when converting diesel into rst before) but im not too clued up on disel conversions tbh

been there done that cant use mk6 gearbox too big need 1.6 diesel flywheel clutch gearbox mk5 turbo diesel engine xr 3 i radiator not saying it cant b done took 3 mechanics a week of evenings to do wiring is another story cut and shut exhaust downpipe dont even think about fitting it without changing timing belt and idlers the cam belt cover is so close on the drivers side its engine out to do the belt needs turbo bonnet intercooler ducting wont fit alternator has to b small japanese one otherwise it hits the anti roll bar mount lower arms last about 10 minutes goes bloody well rev counter needs changing for diesel one and rewiring u have been warned fuel tank needs modifying the list goes on and on if u need more let me know here

Thanks for the info every one' it sounds like alot of hassle to much for me to take on by myself so it looks like im gonna have to go down the rs turbo road, because its easier to find a rs engine and loom than to find a good 1.6i engine with the injection system (MFI) as i didnt get it with the car.

lol a hell of alot better than a diesel lump from the 90's......
