Default Carb CVH Compression ratio

Hi there,
Anyone got any idea as to what is the highest compression ratio a carb cvh engine can take using super unleaded.

Around the 10.5:1 mark should be ok, could go higher with better pistons etc...

yer thats about what i was thinking. got any guesses how much i would need to skim it by to get that if its a untouched head?

Ideally, you need to CC the combustion chambers and see what the value is, im guessing it is going to be around the 55cc mark. If you measure it you will be able to work out roughly how much to skim off. You will also need to know if the bores are standard and the thickness of the headgasket you are intending to use.
