1.6 x-flow,kent 244 cam,1300 pistons
Hi,anyone here have the above spec in there x-flow?im building one for a favour and im wondering what sort of depth i need his pistons pockerted by?otherwise its going to be a fair ol process!!!

There is no "real" figures for this, engines which have had material M/C from the deck/head face can drastically effect the depth for pocketing. You will need to leave a clearance gap of 1mm between the piston face and the valve, this allows for expansion and rods stretch at high RPM

built an engine to this spec years ago in my first car iirc correctly I didn't pocket the pistons & had no trouble but would be worth doing a dummy build & use some plastacine to check the clearance.
word of warning use super unleaded as the compression ratio is quite high & make sure the dizzy is tightened properly. mine blew a piston at about 120 racing a st mondeo cos my dad had filled it up with normal unleaded & the dizzy timing had moved slightly causing det

ok chaps thanks-was going to do a dummy build with plastcine but was just trying to save sum time!i have a hot 1.6 x-flow with 1300 piggys in my anglia with a cosworth A2 cam that also didnt need pistons pocketed!best get the dti then!
