Default tapping noise from engine on zetec s w reg

hi guys done a cambelt and oil change on my sisters zetec s, and now it is tapping seems to be coming from the inlet cam area sounds like it has dropped a valve or the little ends.

but it only does it occasionally and when it does it it trys to stall and misses whilst popping back through the inlet.

now it cant be the timing as i have checked this at least 6 times and when running ok it is sweet.

any ideas as im stumped!

does sound like its kissing a valve, i hate timing, does it use the timing pin on the crank? also, has the bottom pulley got a key way?

bottom pully has no keyway same for the cams i very much doubt it is the timing as i have checked and double checked and it is doing it intermittantly if it was timing it would be doing it every cycle

It is a inlet valve sticking, plain and simple, not uncommon at all, though not hugely common on zetec s.
Oil viscosity won't affect it, I would try some WYNN's hydraulic valve lubricant(halfords), althought he problem is outside the valve itself this stuff removes varnish, and carbon well.
