I'm new and have tried using the search facility.
I'm beginning to build a 2.0 Zetec Turbo...i plan to use the LET pistons (2nd hand) Is it ok just to use these. They're out of a low mileage engine...If so, do i just replace the rings?
Thanks.

Yeh read about that....was going to be using the LET rods also. Is that a better option...would imagine the big end would need bored out? I just need to know if 2nd hand pistons and rods will be up to the job?
Thanks

Fair point...unsure about the answers to all of those questions because the engine hasn't been built. Looking for around 270BHP..would the 2nd hand LET piston and the Zetec rods cope with this estimated power?

If you use zetec rods, you also need a oil feed hole putting in the little end. As the zetec as standard arn't floating but the LET is. 270BHP is considered about the upper limits of STD zetec rods.
Shame as i'v just sold a set of Modded zetec rods and decent LET pistons.

i think this is done to aid lubrication as the oil spray bars dont function properly with those pistons, www.powerconversions.co.uk are the people to speak to on this, gave me loads of advice on this and they can carry the neccessary work out for you.
Hope this helps

Raj_FRST- huh? That doesn't make sense. The piston cooling jets work just fine with those pistons? I'm still confused as to why someone/you thinks drilling a hole in the top of a rod in a semi-floating application is going to make the slightest bit of difference to anything (other than technically making the rod weaker).

well it is above my head, I remember the bloke explaining how when the let pistons are used they need to be bronzed bushed or something similar as the standard spray bars are obstructed, i cannot personal vouch for this info as I have never done this sort of conversion, just trying to throw a bit of info in

i sold them for Ł350
to some lad who was overly desperate. without rings.
It was ian howell who said the oil feed hole was needed. The let Piston and Zetec rod set up is floating.
The underpiston jets work fine when using let pistons.
