engine bore
in a previous thread, i said that i wanted to make my mondeo go faster. i have thought about bolting on a turbo but not sure if the gaskets would cope with the extra pressure. my mate said about having the engine re-bored... he said that he had his motor bike re-bored and it went nearly twice as quick. how would i go about gettin the engine done on the car? can anyone reconmend a guy or company to go to??
thanks

"bolting on" a turbo to a totaly standard engine will result in a catastrophic meltdown of a pinston and ultimately complelely fuck the enging up.
getting a "rebore" isnt a simple process, your gonna need all new pintons to match the new bore, possbly new con rods for the new pistons, all of this involving a complete engine strip down and rebuild which always means £££
so tell your mate to stop talking shit please.

This idea of a rebore will work on 50cc mopeds and alike but you are not going to see a major hike in power by doing this on a car engine, it will only increase the capacity my a negligable amount.
If you want serious power, either by an RST or Cos, turbo your engine or put in an engine that is designed to run a turbo

For it to make muych difference alone due to a rebore, it would have to be seriously shagged to start with, but then all you would get is what was there to start with a healthy engine, unless you can go a really good amount, I don't know with the mondy lumps, but on 2L pintos bored to 2.1L there was a noticeable torque increase, a easy cheap upgrade is flywheel lightening, but the usual air filter exhaust etc add a bit, cams etc also help but then you start to have problems with CR/det and a unsuitable ecu.
