ok, first off its not a ford, but i know you lot have the most amazing resto projects going, and the undersides of ur cars look better than most cars do on top! so, my question is...

...what paint do you use? ive got a mint White uno im going to do the full works on with a fresh turbo lump going in and the underneath is rust free and solid as a rock and im wanting to paint it white with powdercoated beam etc.

ive seen some people use hammerite, but surely thats not the correct way? the underseal on the car is perfect too, can that be painted over the top of? i want a good job, but im not going to enter concourse with it, just fancy having a go!

ok, ive had a quick look about and a few of you have used hammerite smooth underneath your cars.

will this be ok ontop of the original underseal? as this is all fine? obviously i'll get it all cleaned down first!

Yes as long as you clean it down properly, you can paint it over the original stuff ,and with it being rough underseal the brush marks are not visable
