Escort van 55 diesel rear knocking
I have an S plate diesel Escort 55 van. Since I purchased the van, I've had two nagging problems.
1: Every time I hit a slight bump, there's a knocking from the rear end. I've taken a look, and it appears as if the rear leaf springs are slapping together when the suspension rises making a curious knocking sound. Any suggestions?
2: When I hit 40mph the whole front of the van wobbles quite violently until I reach 60mp then it stops, Had the tracking and balancing done. is it the bushes? or something more sinister? It only seem to occur under acceleration too, when I take my foot off the gas the wobbling stops. Helllp??

i believe there should be some bump stops either on the spring or mounted to the body to stopthat also check the exhaust is ok, did you see the tracking get done, i had mine done on my rs turbo and it was well out and the whell wasnt properly balanced.check front wheel bearing and driveshafts for play and engine mounts also.
