Default 90' Spec XR3i, front speaker sizes?

Does anybody know the size of the front speakers in my XR?

I haven't had a look myself yet but I would like to replace the factory fit ones. I'd also like to keep the original speaker cover/guard on too if you know what I mean.

Recently put some new Sony 6x9's in the parcel shelf and don't seem to be getting much sound from the front without distortion.

i think mk4 xr3i's are 13cm an mk5 xr3i's are 17cm but with mk5 you can buy a pod to mount them an dnt have to cut a thing an every thin will look normal with grill. atleast ot was with my mk5 rs2000. like i sed i think.

sorry just seen 90spec!doh so ignore most of it!

4 inch front, 5 inch rear.
Fronts are fixed in by bent-over metal tabs but these can easily be changed for normal screws/bolts provided you drill out the metal tab slots.
Rear speakers are clamped between two plastic enclosures, this time with four bolts and captive nuts in the plastic.

In both cases the PCD of the bolt/screw holes are a standard size so the normal 'replacement' speakers will fit fine.
HTH.

The front ones are 4 inch, but i have fitted in mine 5,25 ones, but you need to do some mod to the metal support, nothing difficult only to make space for the new speaker.

Though not an XR3i mines right on the changeover. 89/90.
It has the 90 spec spoiler and NO joystick.

Fade is done by the radio, a top of the range (in its day) Ford 2005 unit.
