Default FRST fuel pump question.

Hiya All,

Question about the fuel pump, when the ignition is switched on does the fuel pump prime until it reaches a certain pressure then switch off or does it continually pump ?

If it pumps until it reaches a certain pressure what controls this, is it ECU controlled, fuel pressure regulator controlled??

Basically, for the first time since getting this FRST as a rebuild project, i got a battery on it today to sort out an alarm issue, when i switched the ignition on i got NO dash lights, the car wouldn't crack over and the fuel pump was constantly priming without shutting itself off and after 5-6 seconds the pump began to labour under pressure but continued to pump, just not sure if its meant to shut down when pressure achieved.

Ignore the fact there is no ignition lights, think that is alarm / immobiliser related so will look further in to that another time unless someone can confirm there directly related in some way.

Thanks

Garry
