MSD Closed Loop
Hi all,
Have just got round to fitting my MSD closed loop chip and Siemens injectors but having a few problems with setting up the fuelling.
The car starts fine from cold and warms up nicely but as soon as the engine is upto temprature it begins to hunt. If you hold the revs higher the engine seems to smooth out but as soon as the throttle is released and the car drops back to idle it starts to hunt again, at which point it nearly stalls and I get lots of black smoke out the exhaust pipe. I assume the black smoke means the engine is over fuelling?
Have checked fuel pressure which is bang on 3.5bar with the vacum pipe dis connected and bunged. Followed the instructions from MSD and made sure I turned the CO screw on the ECU 5 times clockwise and then 1.5 turns anti clockwise. Have tried adjusting the CO screw but this seems to have little effect.
Haven't put the car on an exhaust gas analyser yet as the garage I use is 20 miles away and I don't really want to drive the car there while it is over fueling. I'm starting to think I have a sensor problem elsewhere on the car, anyone know where I should start looking?
