i have been offered one of these but to be honest not shaw what it does could somebody explain it for me and what the advantages over a standard ecu are!!!????!!!!

The "Stage 4" will just be a chip mate. ECU will be the same as a normal L8.

Have you got a L6 or L8?

L1 = 3 door
L6 = 2wd saff
L8 = fitted to the late 4x4's

basically the L8 supports more features such as ALS & lambda

An L8 always has a baby board connected. It's used as an extension to the mainboard and contains a Ram chip and the Eprom. The Eprom is there because the baby board is connected to the Eprom-socket on the mainboard.
However, tuners use different hardware for this baby board in order to protect the contents of the Eprom. Without special hardware and/or software you cannot see the maps, they are all scrambled.

It is nothing more exciting than an ecu out of a 4wd Sierra Cosworth.
If you dont want to enhance yours, which will mean buying a new chip and TPS then dont buy it unless its very cheap, IE sub £150, in which case buy it and sell it on.
