Tends to happen when the engines been under load, coming off the motorway etc. I'll slow down and as I brake and dip the clutch to stop, the revs go back up to around 3k and hang there for about 5 seconds then come down again.
Even if I put it back into gear then force the revs down by lifting the clutch to the bite and staying on the brakes it still jumps up when I dip the clutch again
It idles perfect from cold/hot start( aronud 1k), its done 71k and will get its cambelt and a service done this week at some point, so i'll be under the bonnet twiddling with it.
Anyone got any ideas for me to start looking for?

Vehicle Speed sensor for ecu. sits at bottom of speedo cable at gearbox. long lead runs to top of bulkhead. disconnect it will tell you for sure. if it stops revving up fit new one.

That makes sense
Its started doing it after i took the clocks out to change a bulb and break the airbag light
