Default 205 blocks

hi can anyone tell me is a 205 pinto block the same as a 205 cosworth block, i know the rods and crank are steel items in the cosworth block. So could i use my cosworth crank rods and pistons, all 2wd in a block from a 205 pinto engine

Thanks alot David

I don't think they are, i was recently shown a load of different 205 bottom ends, sierra, cortina etc etc and you can see the webbing is a lot thinner in places than the cosworth 205 blocks....

depends on the casting as they differ there is a grading stamped on them.
But yes you can use a 205 pinto block and use it as a cosworth turbo block.
My cousin did this and he ran a t34 at 30 psi, still running now after 4 years.

if you look by the dizzy, there will be a 4 digit numbers

the 205 blocks which had 2's & 3's (e.g. 2222, 2232) in the 4 digit number were picked to make the cosworth engine - the rest were used for other pintos (non cosworth)

apparently the bores had less intolerances if 2222's were stamped into it

my last cossie 205 block had 2222 stamped into it
