heater resistor question

heater resistor question
hi i have a fiesta mk4 and have just bought a new heator resitor off of ebay. I only changed the resistor in may but i didnt change the wiring plug that was supplied. could this have caused the resistor to burn out as i know that fiestas suffer from this problem. I just dont fancy changing the resistor again in another 6 months
