Default rear disc conversion, help???

just recently got all the bits and pieces for the rear disc conversion on my escort mk4 cab, put it all together bleed the brakes up all was going well untill i went to put the wheels back on the wheel nuts dont seem to go in far enough i can get the thread ok and tighten them up ish but any thing over 80nm rounds the thread off as i dont think they go in enough. the old rear drum was about 5mm thick but the new discs (sierra cosy) are about half inch thick so obviously the bolt does not go in as far as it did. have i got the right wheel bolts for my car? (wheel bolts come with the wheels i bought) has anyone had this prob? thanks in advance
