Default wiring a switch

hello hers one for people who are good with electrics. I've got a switch that when you hold it down it activates whatever its connected to and when you let it go it disconnects. is there a way with relays or what ever to keep it connected when you let go of the switch thanks in advance

YES there is a way, but easier to change the switch.
If you still want to go ahead with this switch, you would need to put a latch on the relay, then add another switch that is also momentary like your present one but normally closed, whereas your one is normally open.
Much simpler just to get another switch but yes it can be done.

thanks all for your help so far. i no it would be easier to change the switch but some one has previously put this particular switch in the dash and it would be handy if i could use this particular switch for this application. if worst comes to the worse I'll get a switch and put it some were else

Just put through a relay then with a latch, and put a momentatry switch(normally closed) in the latch, so you just press this for off.
