Default Any cologne v6 experts around ?

Hi.

I'm planning a new project, and was thinking of using a 2.9L v6 engine from sierra/scorpio etc, with a explorer 4.0 crank.

Now, does anyone know what kind of rpm's I could run on stock rods and pistons, or where I can get lightend and stronger rods/pistons.

Cheers
Anders

much easier to just fit the 24V engine from a granada or twin turbo the normal 2.9

you are limited to around 6k rpm in the 12V form and about 6500 in the 24V form

the 4.0 won't give you 4.0 as you need to use some other mods to get it all working right, not too sure as it's been a while since it was discussed by someone, as in a good few years ago

if i can dig up the info i will do so, but it's a lot of wor for not a lot more power

I don't want the 24V

And I know it doesn't give you 4.0L, but around the 3,4/3.5L mark. Wich is just where I want to be

Thanks for the help

it's some wrong link... "worddictionary.com.au" is opened when I click on it.

Dojj, do You know anything or anyone who drop 4.0 crank into 2.9 block? I can't just swap 4.0, so i'm searching other ways.

I asked and found the answer by myself.
4.0 crankshaft is really fits to 2.9 block. I found man who put 4.0 crank into 2.9 Ford Scorpio block and made 3.3 turbo Ford Taunus

Make sure you leave the dipstick out if you do fit the 4.0 crank in a 2.9 bottom end, there isn't enough room for it. The crank will catch it and rip it to shreds. Dave Ward (Sparkplug) on the XROC bulletin board and XR4 Register site has the conversion done, it make it 3.7 litres but he has an Eaton supercharger as well. His dipstick does not live fitted, he has a dummy handle to plug the tube.
