my cosworth has a top end knocking noise, when dropping off the revs, sound like a follower sticking, but since replaced these. but still there. its had new pistons, rings, crank, shells, hp oil pump, 80 psi when cold, 30 psi when at normal opperating temp. took to pj motorsports yesterday but after a long run there the noise had almost vanished. they said it sounded a bit cami but checked timing and was ok, could it be little ends!!!

 

I'd be tempted to say piston slap if it were 2wd, and did it when it was cold...

 

just had rebore and new pistons / rings, and noise is from top end.
