Default cosworth oil return

when using a bailey oil separator can the original oil return port be used for this purpose(just behind where the original kidney box sat) or do i have to use the bung on the exhaust side of the block?

mine was all plumbed in wrong so now-
exhaust side port on the block goes to top of seperator port
kidney bowl side goes to other side of seperator port(other top port)
the large bore port on the seperator(bottom of it)goes to atmosphere under car
then the small port on the bottom of seperator needs to be used as a drain off to sump.
hope this helps?
