Default amal valve

hi
if an amal valve on a series 2 was faulty could it cause the car to lose boost
the amal clicks on the turn of the key and when disconnected boost stays at 7 psi
but when connected boost rises to 12 psi then falls to 7 psi the car is set to run 12 psi
hope someone can help

Unlikley to be the valve as it sounds as though it is working, it only follows instructions from ecu.

so is it possible that the pulse from ecu is braking down and sending wrong pulses to amal which could in turn make the boost drop
i did remove the amal and tried an adjustable boost valve and got stable/holding boost from 7psi fully closed on valve and driving lovely .
upto 9psi with only a 1 1/4 turn on the manual controller but to laggy for me but holds boost
so am i right in saying with the amal connected the actuator rod is say set to 6/7 psi and the bleed off from amal makes it rise to the 12psi but as there is somethink wrong there is boost drop
so if i remove amal valve and have bleed valve in its place fully closed and 7psi and say take the boost up by the ac/rod to say 11 psi am i right it still will be laggy even thou bleed valve closed at the moment as i only found it laggy when adjusting the bleed valve
