Default MK6 Steering

At last, had the time to look at my steering !!

The problem was excessive play even when steering lock is on (can still be pulled about 3cm towards you)

Anyway the problem is at the rear of the colum leading to the steering arms you can see the slack when pulling towards you .It is also very greasy

looked my haynes manual and its vague

anyone got any ideas how to cure !!!!!???????????

cheers

If it's not the column adjuster then you probably need a new column.

If it has an adjustable column it'll have a lever underneath on the right hand side.

Yeah, that's the one I mean. If it's not that then it sounds like it could be bust then fella.
