I've been offerred a 1800 zetec engine, its on a pallet and wrapped up. The guy told me it is the 130bhp version and has given me a money back offer if its not a good engine when installed. My question is how do I know its not the 105 version..? I can see RDA stamped on the head but this could be either engine yes......??

 

it is the 2litre that is 130bhp and the 1.8 is 115 bhp on the blacktop zetec.
the earlier silvertop zetecs are a little higher, 2.0 is 136bhp unsure what the 1.8 is

 

the 130bhp has a larger throttle body, as well as manifold iirc, it also has 2 litre cams in it, along with oil squirters under the pistons. no easy way to tell from the outside, but its not difficult to make into a 130bhp spec if its not one.

 

take the sump off and check for a spray bar. 105's never had them, 130specs did.

 

2ltr cams, throttle body and MAF would produce 130 from a 1.8.

But yes, 2.0 has oil jets.
