Was wondering if there were any ib5 gearboxes that were close ratio. Was chatting to a mate about Vauxhalls, and he had a close ratio box in his, that they made as factory standard and was a straight swap.
It was just a thought, only one ive found was the quaife and at 1200quid ouch haha

just looked on web after you said that.
it looks like and all i can find is in relation to fiest zetec s, that the ratio of 1st 2nd and 3rd are closer, and 5th is diffrent aswell, think maybe better top end.
anyone know the ratios, or where to find, as it will be a 1.6 focus it will go in if it proves to not be to expensive.

 

closest you will get is, puma gearset, and use either a 1.25 ,1.4 or 1.6 zetec s final drive which is 4.25

 

whats the puma final drive?

would the diffrence in the two ratios make a diffrence or are they near enough the same?

 

Puma final drive is 3.82
ZS is 4.25
1.25 / 1.4 is 4.05

All boxes have the same 1st and 2nd gear ratios.
Zetec-s and 1.25/1.4 boxes have the same ratios.

Puma gearbox has a less steep 3rd 4th and 5th.

closest ratio box will be a puma gearset with zs final drive... similar to the FRP.

FRP box is meant to have shot peened first and second, thats the only difference
